Thoughts: International Muslimah Wear

Hi. So yeah, apparently Dolce & Gabbana just release their first hijab and abaya collection. I got the story from my brother really but yeah I gotta say that is interesting. I mean, a world renowned brand produces muslimah wear; aren't you just curious how it would look like? Well obviously it targets the rich-arab market. Hahah I call it the rich-arab because well, you gotta be rich to afford it. I also saw an article I think it was vogue saying that market on muslimah fashion is rising and it is predicted to rise at 496billion by year 2019. That is high, no?
I know this is not the first time a brand reaches the muslimah market. There's Uniqlo with Hana Tajima (the blouses are so fine!) and H&M with the muslimah model saying that we can make use of what they sell? (That is the message I think they're giving). I mean I gotta say it is a statement; muslimah has become a fashion statement, a marketable statement and a powerhouse that cannot be pushed aside. You google or pinterest hijabista, hijabs, hijabsters and muslimah, in less than a second, millions of posts or links gets you to the said keywords: be it fashion, food, fitness, sports or person of interest.
Well, for one thing I like the fact that it's easier to find modest fashionable clothes nowadays and also loads of ideas to cover up. I like the fact being covered does not mean you're not fashionable anymore and it does not mean you are insecure; though it does still make people think you are oppressed. I also like that there are comfortable, breathable clothes around so even when we wear it, it still feels good and it's even better if it's loose.
Personally, people need to keep a watch out for the Malaysian muslimah market. These women who designs muslimah wear there are to me the next powerhouse to be reckoned with. I know asian muslims are people that are still overlooked and passed but to me we understand more. I can't really explain it but in a way having them giving out ideas makes sure you are covered? Hahah I hope you get me. But yeah, seriously you really need to keep a watch out for these people. They are selling.
One thing's for sure? I cannot wait for a Dolce & Gabbana abaya knockoffs.

| I love this. Omg, it's simple with a hint of detail (the pop colour). Haha I wish. |
